Simulate a conversation with your ex before texting them
Text them or not? And if so, what to say? After a breakup, every word counts. SimuChat lets you test your message on a simulation of your ex, built from your real conversations, before deciding whether to send it.

Context : we haven't talked since the breakup two months ago
hi, hope you're doing ok. I just wanted to say I think a lot about what we said to each other
hey
I'm ok yeah, you? that's nice of you to text
honestly I think about it sometimes too… I just don't really know what to say
Test your message without pressure
A message to an ex can't be taken back. By testing it on the simulation first, you see how it might be received, notice what sounds like a reproach or an expectation, and adjust the tone. Often, the exercise mostly helps you figure out what you really want to say.
A simulation true to how they write
SimuChat learns from your old messages: their expressions, emojis, the length of their replies, their humour and how they react when the conversation gets serious. In your notes, you can say where things stand ("broke up three months ago", "fairly calm breakup") so the simulation takes it into account.
Putting words to what's left
Some people use SimuChat to write what they never said, without necessarily sending it. Putting things into words, reading a reply and stepping back can help you move on. If the breakup is very painful, don't hesitate to talk to a friend or a professional too.
Respect the other person
The simulation is a tool for you. If your ex has asked you not to contact them, respect that choice. And anyone can object to their messages being used in SimuChat.
How it works
Three steps, a few minutes.
- 1
Export your conversations
From WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Snapchat, TikTok, Android SMS or your iPhone (with the free Windows app). The guide walks you through every step.
- 2
Import them into SimuChat
Importing is free. SimuChat works out who wrote what and builds each contact's writing profile: message length, punctuation, emojis, favourite expressions, rhythm.
- 3
Chat with the simulation
Write as usual: the AI answers with their words, their humour and their rhythm, based on your real conversations.
Frequently asked questions
Will my ex know I used SimuChat?
No. The simulation only happens in your account and nothing is sent to the real person. You decide afterwards whether to send a real message or not.
Do I need our old conversations?
Yes: SimuChat needs an export of your chats (WhatsApp, Instagram, iMessage, SMS…) to learn how they write. You can delete it at any time, along with all related data.
Is it healthy to simulate your ex?
Used to prepare a message or to put words to a breakup, the simulation can help. If you feel it's stopping you from moving on, take a break and talk to someone you trust.
SimuChat imitates a writing style, it doesn't read minds: the real person may react differently. For adults (18+) only; simulating a deceased person is not allowed.
